From the first lecture to the exam.

One course, one project. Here is how a term goes.

  1. Type the course code. It sets itself up.

  2. Dated, filed with the course, and the AI reads them.

  3. The answer quotes the page, and opens it.

  4. It asks what you mean first, then drafts as changes you keep or undo.

  5. Quizzes and flashcards, made from your own notes and readings.

  6. The same document, live, with comments.

Course description

Learning outcomes5

  • Describe how demand and supply can be derived from maximization of utility and of profit by firms and individuals. You should also be able to use supply and demand analysis to show and explain how changing circumstances affect prices and quantities on a market.
  • Apply economic theory to describe how markets allocate resources and discuss this allocation from a welfare perspective.
  • Identify profit maximizing prices and quantities under different assumptions regarding market structure (for instance perfect competition, monopoly and duopoly).
  • Analyse the welfare effects of international trade and of trade policy.
  • With the aid of economic theory describe how markets are affected by market failures caused by externalities and asymmetric information. You should also be able to explain how different policy measures affect equilibria and welfare in such markets.

Course content

After the course you will be able to apply basic economic analysis to understand markets and to choices that may face individuals, firms and society. You will also have an understanding of how markets allocate resources. The 6 ECTS course lays a foundation for further studies in economics.

Teaching

To support your learning we have lectures and seminars. Mainly there are lectures on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and then seminars related to this material on the subsequent Monday. Participation in seminars and lectures is not mandatory but highly recommended. Voluntary hand-ins prior to each seminar and a midterm multiple-choice exam facilitate learning and give the opportunity to earn credits that count towards the final grade. For details regarding grading and exam please see Examination.

Questions students ask

The ones worth asking before you trust a tool with your degree.

Is using Skriptr cheating?
Your institution sets that line, and you should follow its policy. What Skriptr does is make your work showable: it asks what you want to argue before writing anything, every edit arrives as a tracked change you accept or undo, and every claim cites a page in a source you uploaded. You get full control over your paper.
This is exactly what I want my students to use, because then I know AI is being used correctly.
Daniela LillekrokenAssociate Professor, OsloMet
Will it just write my paper for me?
Not in one go, and that is the point. It agrees the angle with you, asks questions only you can answer, puts the outline in your document first, then drafts part by part with you. You end up with a finished paper and with the thinking that produced it.
Are the citations real?
Yes. Skriptr cites only from the sources in your own library, and every citation traces to the page it came from. Your reference list also builds itself from used citations automatically.
Why not just use ChatGPT?
ChatGPT answers from memory, and the references it suggests often do not exist. Skriptr answers from the sources you uploaded, cites the page, and puts every edit into your document as a tracked change. It is also where your notes and readings live, not a chat window you paste into.
Does it work on my phone?
Skriptr runs in the browser on a laptop or desktop, and as a Mac app. You can create your account on your phone right now, and your workspace is ready when you open it at your desk.
Can I work on a project with other people?
Yes. Invite people into a project as an admin, editor or viewer, and you write in the same document at the same time, with the same library.
What can I upload, and what can I export?
Bring in PDFs, DOCX, web pages, recordings, images and your own notes. Audio is transcribed on the way in on paid plans. If a draft already lives somewhere else you can import it from Word or Overleaf and carry on writing. On the way out: Word, PDF or Markdown, references intact.
What happens to the material I upload?
Your sources and drafts stay private to your project and are not used to train models. You can delete a source, or the whole project, whenever you like.

The work gets better.
So do you.
